Join us for Wellness 101 + Vitamins on Monday, 10/17 after Core Yoga!

Hello friends!

Some of you have been asking me about the vitamins I have been taking, and it just so happens that the person I get them from, Preya Shah, is coming to Grayling this Monday (10/17)! She will tell you all about them, give you samples, and take orders if you want to try them!

Preya is a physical therapist, Sivananda Yoga Master, and practicer of holistic medicine. She is a wealth of knowledge in the realms of health, nutrition and wellness, and she has a very high bar for the quality of sustenance she feeds herself and her family. She is also a dear friend of Mariah’s and other STY community members, having taught regularly at Stone Turtle in the summer of 2015. Her full bio is below.

Preya will be presenting the line of vitamins she reps, called Nutra Metrix, at a Wellness 101 workshop, which will take place right after Core Yoga on Monday, 10/17 (approximately 10:15am). I do not usually endorse anything (except yoga and cross country skiing, of course ;)), but I do endorse these vitamins: they are free of fillers and synthetic ingredients, completely vegan, and improved my energy levels and overall feeling of vitality the day I started taking them.

Mark your calendars!

Wellness 101 Workshop with Preya
When: Monday, October 17th at approximately 10:15am, ending around 11:00am (workshop directly follows Core Yoga from 9:00am – 10:00am)
Cost: FREE
Location: Grayling Studio

Preya’s full bio:

Preya earned her Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan before she set off on a journey to understand different healing modalities from around the world. This personal passage resulted in years of studying Yoga in India, Herbal Medicine in Bali, and Holistic Medicine in Japan, which lead to a deep level of healing and connection to her true self. It’s from this profound desire to understand authentic healing, that Preya’s specialty of Mind, Body, and Spirit has blossomed. She has also spent years spending nutrition, supplementation, and craniosacral therapy as adjuncts to her yogic practice. Preya has been actively involved in learning, teaching and living the Yogic lifestyle for over 10 years. She has obtained the title of Yoga Acharya (Yoga Master) through the Sivananda International Yoga Centers.

Hope to see you there!

Much love,

Mariah

TOMORROW: Don’t miss October Essential Oils Workshop!

There is still some space left for our Essential Oils + Yoga: October Workshop tomorrow, October 5th at The Gift in Grayling. Click here to pre-regiester and save $5!

In this workshop, which meets on the first or second Wednesday of each month, we will delve into our profoundly powerful sense of scent, and use it to tap into a deep level of balance and well-being during our yoga practice. Each month’s yoga practice and essential oils are different, and are based on what we need to bring balance into our lives for the time of year.

The workshop begines with an introduction of the oils we will use throughout the class, as well as their unique properies and benefits. Then, Mariah will lead a rejuvenating and relaxing yoga class, which is specifically created to coincide with the oils. These top-grade essential oils are applied aromatically, and topically throughout class by essential oil specialist, Nicole Mygrants. This class is inspired by the season, so it involves different oils and asanas each month. Each class is designed to leave students feeling regenerated, empowered, and balanced. This 90 minute workshop is open to all levels!

About Erin:

Yoga has floated in-and-out of my life since 1999, but my love for yoga stuck when it helped relieve my chronic migraines and depression/anxiety related to infertility.  It also served as a lifeline while working on behalf of individuals reentering the community from the criminal justice system.  Yoga helped me meet clients where they were at (emotionally, spiritually, energetically) and to just be present with them in that space.  While living Grand Rapids, I fell in love with Bapitste’s power hot yoga philosophy and a seed was planted…”maybe one day I could be a teacher.”  I noticed I felt awesome after doing the asanas.  Though, it became more that that, my husband calls me the “Pusherman of Yoga,” referencing the Curtis Mayfield song.  It’s true, yoga is like a drug for me; it started as a love of the postures, then came the breath, now the mind, body, spirit…yoga has infiltrated my life.  After moving to Gaylord, the owners of Yoga-45 Lynne and Amy were super supportive and helped me make the decision, to take the plunge, to do the 200-hour training course.  I was trained at Yen Yoga in Traverse City, in hatha yoga, under two amazing women, Jenny Lintvedt and Heidi Dietrich.  Completing the 200-hour training has made me realize there is still so much more to learn.  I will always be a student, humbly learning from those around me; always knowing my two greatest teachers in life will be my children.  I’m looking forward to going on this journey with yogis in the Gaylord community, and grateful for the opportunity to teach with such a beautiful group of people.  the essence of yoga is the union of mind, body, spirit; I hope when individuals leave a class I guide, their body feels strong, their mind feels peaceful and their soul shines bright.  Om Shanti, Om Peace, Namaste.
