Intro to Yoga: 4-Week Series in Grayling AND Higgins Lake!

Do you or someone you know want to learn how to do yoga, but aren’t sure where to start? Join us for a 4-week series that teaches the foundations of yoga in a small, classroom-like setting, with other beginners!

No flexibility required; all ages and body types welcome! This four-week series, limited to eight students, will walk you through the basics of yoga. Learn pose anatomy and alignment, ways to personalize the practice for specific issues or injuries, and the foundations of yoga philosophy. Students will receive printed materials each week for them to keep, which include pose diagrams and summaries of the topics covered at each session.

Due to the small class size of 8 students, which allows for individualized attention, pre-registration is required. This total cost for the four-week series is $50. Pre-register by clicking the links below, or call 989-302-7928.

Meet the teacher!

Amy Pendergraff is new to the Stone Turtle Yoga teaching team, and we are so excited to have her teach this Intro to Yoga series. Here is Amy’s story, let’s give her a warm welcome!

I first came to yoga through a community class offered in Grayling in 2008.  My teacher was BKS Iyengar trained, and I found it difficult to follow.  After several sessions, I stopped going but continued to wonder about it.  I always felt that I had missed something. Then in 2012 I discovered Stone Turtle and Mariah.  Together we began, her studio and my yoga education.  We (along with others) took yoga hikes where we learned to breath and bend like supple branches (or so I imagined). I continued my yoga path where I spend winters in Florida at The Yoga Sanctuary in Punta Gorda, and this past winter completed my 200 hour teacher certification.  I have been very blessed with the quality and variety of teachers I’ve had to date and through teaching and my own practice I hope to continue learning all that I can.  Yoga has been life changing for me.  My physical and mental well being continues to improve and I find that living a yogic life with a 5000 year old history is where I want to be.  I am a native of Detroit and have lived and worked in several areas of Michigan.  I have a husband of 25 years, Jeff, a son and daughter in law, Joe and Heidi and two wonderful grandchildren Hunter and Haylee.  In addition to yoga, I love kayaking, gardening, and generally being outside and in nature.
