Highlights from Grand Opening and Class Schedule for June 24-30

The much anticipated studio opening last Saturday was a big success! After teaching an impromptu Kids Yoga session at South State Park before the Sunrise Fun Run in the morning, we had a great turnout at our open house. We met some great people, gave away yoga prizes, served (and ate) amazing food prepared by The Organic Gypsy, and packed the studio with 20 yoga students (and would have packed about 10 more if we’d had the space!) for the free community class. A big thank you to everyone who came out!

See below or check the Class Schedule tab on the website for next week’s class schedule. Some minor changes, including the addition of an evening Gentle Yoga class on Tuesday night. There are a couple other changes, so be sure to check it out.

Your first class is still free until July 1st, so if we haven’t seen you for class yet, next week has your name on it!

On the comfort front, we have installed 2 fans in the studio to help with air flow and keeping things cool as classes heat up. So far they have been working well. Hope to see you next week! Enjoy the pics. 🙂

Stone Turtle Yoga offers Yoga Alliance Certified Instruction!

Sunday, May 27, 2012 marks Mariah’s graduation of the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Garden of San Francisco. She is now a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance, a worldwide organization that grants certification to yoga teachers based on a high standard of quality and consistency in teaching. After a month-long intensive training with experienced Iyengar yoga teacher David Nelson, and Vinyasa teacher Michelle Myhre, she is unbelievably excited to share what she’s learned with the folks in Higgins Lake, Roscommon, Houghton Lake, Grayling, Saint Helen, and the rest of northern Michigan!

What does this mean for you? It means the instruction at Stone Turtle Yoga has met a specific set of standards to bring you the benefits of yoga in a way that is safe, welcoming, professional, and based on the principles of yoga that have endured for thousands of years. It means that yoga at Stone Turtle can be modified and made accessible for students at any level. Above all, it means that Mariah is prepared to meet you where you are, right now, today, and help you discover what yoga can do for you. Namaste!
