Mid-Winter Update!

Time for a mid-winter update from Stone Turtle Yoga!

We hope everyone is having a great New Year. It’s hard to believe we’ve already got more than a month of 2013 under our belts! Hopefully amid the chilly winter weather, you’re finding time for movement, breath, and reflection. These quiet days can be goldmines for self discovery and fresh perspectives. By slowing things down and stepping back, breathing deeply and keeping an open mind, each day is a new opportunity to refresh ourselves and lighten our state of mind. I have found that by making a point to smile and laugh more each day, the lack of sun becomes more manageable. By feeding light and warmth to those around us, we in turn are fed with light and warmth.

It’s been a great first winter at Stone Turtle Yoga. Many peoples’ practices are moving to new depths, many are finding the courage to try new things, and some are finding the courage to hold back and not over-push. It has truly been a gift to share such a mindful, purposeful part of each week with our yoga community. We hope it has been as fulfilling for our students as it has been for us to jointly tap into that strain of awareness and peace that connects us all. We look forward to continuing the journey throughout the rest of winter and into spring!

Due to all the gorgeous snow, we will unfortunately have to postpone our weekly practice in Grayling until the ski season subsides and the ski business where we spend most of our time slows down a bit. I’ve really enjoyed the Ausable Dance Center and the people I’ve met up there, and I look forward to teaching there in the future. Sadly, at the end of the day, I can’t sacrifice quality for quantity. I hope my Grayling folks understand… you are all welcome to the three weekly classes I will continue to teach at the Gerrish Township Hall!

I would like to reiterate that I will continue to teach the normal class schedule at Gerrish Township Hall:  Gentle Yoga on Monday mornings at 8:30, Empower/Core on Tuesday mornings at 6:00, and Gentle Yoga at 6:00pm on Tuesday evenings.

Thanks so much to all of you for sharing in the Stone Turtle Yoga community. We can’t express our gratitude for each of you enough! Keep in touch, hope to see you soon!

Namaste,

Mariah & Stu

8:30am Gentle Yoga Canceled – Monday, January 28th

Hi everyone!

Look at all the snow! I am canceling this morning’s Gentle Yoga class to avoid having anyone out on the roads. All the schools are closed, as is the Gerrish township hall. Sorry for any inconvenience! Tomorrow’s classes are still on – Core Yoga at 6:00am and Gentle Yoga at 6:00pm.

Have a great day, and stay warm!

Namaste,

Mariah

Christmas Yoga Schedule

Hi yogis!

We had a great Core Yoga class this morning. Thanks to you early risers for rocking it out. Gentle Yoga is tonight at 6:00pm, and Empower Yoga in Grayling is tomorrow at 8:30am sharp!

In light of the holidays, the scattered Christmas schedules, and the (hopefully) busy ski season, we will be off from Christmas Eve (Monday, Dec. 24) through New Year’s Day (Tuesday, Jan. 1). Class will resume Wednesday, January 2nd, with Empower Yoga in Grayling at 8:30am.

But don’t worry, there is still the Yoga-Ski Retreat this coming Saturday, December 22nd! Yoga plus skiing plus food. What could be better? Give me a call or email to sign up. Cost is $35, or $30 if you have your own ski equipment. Keep in mind, this retreat is separate from your normal yoga package, and will not count against your membership.

In the event that there is not enough snow to ski on, we will reschedule the Yoga-Ski Retreat to a later date, so that we get the full experience of cross country skiing with yoga, as well as the full value of the ski rental, lesson and trail pass. I will be in touch if this is the case, but for now plan on a white, snowy Yoga-Ski Retreat this Saturday!

Have a wonderful holiday season. Thank you for sharing your practice, your energy, and your light. Take care of yourself, find some quite time for reflection, and don’t forget to breathe. Shine on through the new year!

Much love,

Mariah
