Preya Shah

Bio:

Preya earned her Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan before she set off on a journey to understand different healing modalities from around the world. This personal passage resulted in years of studying Yoga in India, Herbal Medicine in Bali, and Holistic Medicine in Japan, which lead to a deep level of healing and connection to her true self. It’s from this profound desire to understand authentic healing, that Preya’s specialty of Mind, Body, and Spirit has blossomed. She has also spent years spending nutrition, supplementation, and craniosacral therapy as adjuncts to her yogic practice. Preya has been actively involved in learning, teaching and living the Yogic lifestyle for over 10 years. She has obtained the title of Yoga Acharya (Yoga Master) through the Sivananda International Yoga Centers.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Family Wellness 101 Invitation 07-26-16

TOMORROW: Join us for Yoga + Essential Oils!

Don’t miss this month’s Yoga + Essential Oils Workshop, tomorrow, Wednesday July 6th at 6:00pm!

In this workshop, which meets on the first Wednesday of each month (and is different each month!), we will delve into our profoundly powerful sense of scent, and use it to tap into a deep level of balance and well-being during our yoga practice.

The workshop begines with an introduction of the oils we will use throughout the class, as well as their unique properies and benefits. Then, yoga teacher Mariah Frye Colie will lead a rejuvenating and relaxing yoga class, which is specifically created to coincide with the oils. These top-grade essential oils are applied aromatically, and topically throughout class by essential oil specialist, Nicole Mygrants. This class is inspired by the season, so it involves different oils and asanas each month. Each class is designed to leave students feeling regenerated, empowered, and balanced.

This 90 minute workshop is open to all levels! Space is limited, so pre-registration is highly encouraged. The cost is $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. Sign up here: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/admhome?studioid=29064 or call 989-302-7928 to save $5!

*Please note that this class meets at The Gift in Grayling, at 4304 E M72 Highway, Grayling, Michigan 49738 (1 mile east of downtown, towards Mio).

Thai Yoga Workshop + Live Music Restorative Yoga!

Back for their second year in a row, experienced guest teachers Richard Brookens and Barbara Sloan will be leading two upcoming yoga classes/workshops at Stone Turtle Yoga!

Thai Yoga Partner Workshop with Richard Brookens*
Saturday, June 25th
2:00pm – 4:00pm

Thai Yoga is a unique body work modality from Thailand based in Yoga poses and principles. It is sometimes called “lazy man’s yoga” because the teacher does most of the work, bringing the clients body into gentle Yoga poses, creating space and a deep release by stretching, rolling, and shaking different body parts as the client lays on their back, stomach or side on a mat. No previous knowledge of Yoga is required though it is helpful. Working with your own breath is all that you need to do to attain a deep release while experiencing the delights of Thai Yoga!

In this workshop we will pair up, so come with a friend or meet someone there to work with. Similar height and weight between people will be most advantageous, but not necessary for a good Thai experience. Please wear long pants and a comfortable shirt that you can move in. Richard will demonstrate each pose and then assist each couple as needed. We will all learn to receive AND give the poses instructed, so you will not only learn a lot, but also feel amazing afterwards! Cost: $20

*Richard is available for 1-on-1 Thai Yoga Massage upon request. Email mariahfrye<at>gmail.com for more details (FYI – it’s amazing!!).
