SUP Yoga comes to Higgins Lake!

SUP

Join us for Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) Yoga classes this summer on beautiful Higgins Lake!

Practicing yoga on a SUP board is a blast. A super fun and highly rewarding way to practice yoga outdoors, SUP yoga is taking off all over the country where there is water and sunshine! Plus, the boards, which are longer and wider than even the biggest surf boards, are very stable, float well above the water, and have a nice, grippy surface.

What’s so cool about SUP Yoga? Not only are you surrounded by the sounds of lapping water and birds chirping onshore, but practicing the poses in the fresh air with water underneath your feet creates a feeling of connectivity to nature that is impossible to get in a yoga studio. SUP yoga also adds extra core strengthening and balance to the practice, making it a wonderful full-body workout. The best part of all? Just imagine laying on your board in savasana as your body rocks gently with the water!

Our first class meets Wednesday, July 3rd, at 9:00am, and will meet every Wednesday at 9:00am for the rest of the summer. We will not meet at the studio! This class will meet at B&B Marina at 431 Clare Blvd. in Higgins Lake, which is about 2 miles east of the North Higgins Lake State Park, right by the Dairy Queen. You may bring your own board, or rent one from B&B for $10. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early if you need to rent a board.

“But what if I fall in?!” you might ask. That’s part of the fun! Just like with any other yoga pose, if you fall out, just come right back in. We will not go into water deeper than 4 feet, but it is best that only proficient swimmers take this class.

*In the event of rain or thunderstorms, an Empower Yoga class will be held at Stone Turtle Yoga.

Wow Mariah, this sounds like a lot of fun. Hope I can make it up to do it some time this summer. I’ve not heard about that kind of paddleboard yet either. Things are different since the cottage is sold.

    Blessings,

    Sister Marie

Hello Mariah! It’s been a while…I’ve been wanting to try your classes and see the Cross Country Ski Headquarters from a new perspective (without snow, ha ha). Now that nursing school is out of the way, I hope to nurture myself more with yoga. Looking forward to seeing you again and meeting Stone Turtle Yoga fellow students. Take care 🙂

    1. Thanks Eleanor! Sorry for the late response. Hope to see you at class soon!!
